Objective

In partnership with Apple Australia, Support Partners was engaged to provide implementation, workflow design and production support to the ABC’s national edit workstation replacement project.

Solution

This involved following a solution designed by Apple Australia and delivered to broadcast requirements across a total of 46 suites encompassing Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Hobart and Perth. A total of 215TBs of shared storage has been introduced into the ABC’s production pathway, enabling full resolution SD editing and future-proofing it against HD uplift and multi-platform delivery.

Client Benefits

The project took 6 months to implement nationally and was finished on-time and on-budget. Involving installation, integration into 3rd party post production solutions (including Autodesk Smoke, DaVinci, ProTools), and a comprehensive coaching and training programme for existing Avid editors.

It delivers some 30 hours of programming every week and is prepared for the deployment of Apple's recently released Final Cut Server solution.
