Support Partners recently completed a project to supply Comic Relief with new editing capabilities.
Support Partners were approached by Comic Relief to deliver a new end-to-end editing, workflow and media management solution. The core objective of the upgrade was to increase the amount of video content Comic Relief are able to output as their existing facility was not able to keep up with the increasing volumes required and demands of modern camera formats. They needed not only an affordable, cost effective solution but a highly expandable solution for future upgrade and content demands.
To help keep costs low, Support Partners utilised as much of Comic Relief’s existing hardware and software as possible and continuously advised Comic Relief on how they could reduce their production costs.
A complete in-house Final Cut Pro and Shared Storage solution was designed which included two new editing suites connected to a MetaSAN Fibre Channel shared storage solution. All media was automatically backed up to 2nd tier storage and valuable production files also copied to an off-site secure Cloud based archive.
Our workflow and application team worked closely with the Comic Relief editors to develop bespoke workflows and continuously advise how best to utilise the system and manage the media.
